How to Change the World around You
Every day, we wake up in the same bed (well, most of us!), go to the same place for work, and lead our lives in a hopelessly preprogrammed manner. While some people blame the zombification of mankind on the public education system, some can’t get enough of cursing the capitalism that has given birth to innumerable indispensable needs of the human race.
Overlooking the debate, one thing is for sure; time and
again, we all feel the need to bring in some “change” in our rather monotonous
lives, and for this, go to extremes and invest fortunes. Unfortunately, the
moments at extremities are usually limited and start to dissipate even before
we are able to sink in the feeling. So, what to do? Can’t go on a vacation
every month!
Well, here are 5 simple ways to change the world around you,
without really making too much efforts or spending a large sum of your hard-earned
money.
Option 1: Change Your Ride
Probably the biggest problem with the current generation is
that we have become too relaxed in our little comfort zones, and that pretty
much explains why we do the same things every day. But even if we have to, at least we can do the same
things differently. Begin by changing your mode of commute. If you drive a car,
take a bus. If you commute by bus, try metro, or take a taxi one odd day to
prize yourself.
Option 2: Play a Musical Instrument
As kids, a lot of us aspire to be musicians, but with time,
the inbred desire finds itself blowing with the wind. If you seek “change”,
it’s time you revive the musician inside. Even if you don’t like music (which
is kind of hard to believe!), you can still give it a try. You just might be
missing out on one of the most magnificent experiences we, as humans, are
capable of comprehending. Start by watching a few videos of the instruments you
like, as it will help you to make the right choice of the one to play.
Option 3: Indulge in Artworks
Art - three letters that collate more substance than the
entire living humanity put together. If you feel life has gotten too dull,
adding some artwork to your surroundings can help. Explore the works of the
best artists to have walked the planet and bring home some replicas of their
work. They might not be the real thing, but look pretty much as good. Or, you
can also buy the work of upcoming artists. Either, you will be able to bring a
notable change to the world around you.
Option 4: Use Wall Tapestries
What, tapestries? Yes, tapestries! Unarguably one of the
most economical décor products in the book, tapestries can actually make a huge
difference in the overall ambience of your home and workplace. During the
medieval eras, tapestries were used by the elite as a symbol of class and
taste, and even after hundreds of years, their charm refuses to perish. You can
buy a few tapestries for different parts of your home and workplace and change
them whenever you think you could do with a little change in your life.
So these were five simple ways with which you can alter how
you feel about your everyday life.
“Monotony collapses
time, novelty unfolds it. If you spend your life sitting in a cubicle and
passing papers, one day is bound to blend unmemorably into the next - and
disappear.” – Joshua Foer
